Mission of Hope Haiti is an organization that follows Jesus and exists to bring life transformation to every man, woman, and child in Haiti. It was founded in 1998, and continues to serve Haiti daily by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the Haitian population.
Their passion is to see the hopeless find hope through Jesus Christ, and empower future generations through education to bring their country out of poverty.
Ongoing ministry in Haiti:
There are over 9 million people who live in Haiti and the country is in desperate need of economic improvement and spiritual revival. Below are some statistics that outline the situation in Haiti currently:
- Haiti is ranked 149th out of 177 on the 2009 United Nations Human Development Index.
- The World Food Program reports that food supply covers only 55% of the population.
- Haiti ranks among the worst three countries in the world in daily caloric intake per person.
- Unemployment is now 90% in Haiti and 80% of Haiti’s people live in abject poverty.
- There are over 400,000 children without parents in Haiti.
- 1 out of 5 children will die before the age of five.
Mission of Hope is primarily focused meeting the needs of Haitians both physically and spiritually. Specifically, Mission of Hope has programs focused in on church advancement, education, orphan care, medical care, nutrition, disaster relief, and the HaitiOne network that unifies other Christian organizations within Haiti.
